A Public Representative is an official, elected or appointed, that "represents" the entire community; not just those in my corner. This includes my supporters, my doubters, and those somewhere in between. Those "in-betweeners" sometimes get lost in the shuffle; they may not feel empowered, they may not understand their roles and avenues of communication, they may not feel that their concerns will be heard or gain City Council attention. For whatever the reason, I estimate that these numbers account for ~10%, ~10%, ~80% split; supporters, detractors and the "in-betweeners". Supporting my view are the historically dismal election turnouts, at best around 15% of the registered voters. We, as a Council, must include and focus more on those, seemingly, without a voice.
